Learning and Enrichment Teachers' Aide - Profound Disabilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning and Enrichment Teachers' Side to primarily provide 1-1 support to a student with profound physical and learning disabilities in, and outside of the classroom. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team in providing ongoing support on excursions and caring for the students' wellbeing.

This is a temporary part time role, working 0.8 FTE across five days, for the duration of Term 4, 2024, with the possibility of leading to permanent work in the future.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful applicants will have:

  • Demonstrated commitment to student well-being and child safety.
  • Capability to work cooperatively within a team environment.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Experience with working with profoundly disabled children
  • Experience with supporting the medical needs of profoundly disabled children.
  • Experience with working with feeding and the personal care of profoundly disabled children
  • Effective organisational skills and the ability to be able to multi-task and work efficiently.
  • Acts professionally and maintains confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent initiative and judgement when required.
  • Participation in co-curricular activities, camps and day trips/excursions.
  • The successful applicant will be able to build good rapport with students with profound physical and learning needs and be able to work collaboratively with colleagues. 
  • Previous experience in an educational setting would be an advantage.  

The following experience, skills and attributes are desirable:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Boardmaker
  • First Aid Certificate   
  • Certificate III Education Support – Learning Support Officer (Special) or higher 
  • Nursing background
