We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning and Enrichment Teachers' Aide to complement our K-12 Learning and Enrichment team as part of the Stage 5 team.

The Learning and Enrichment team collaborates with class teachers to identify and support students with additional needs in an inclusive way that enhances their cognitive, physical, and emotional development.  
 
This full-time position will commence Term 1, 2025

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities: 

  • A willingness to be an advocate for students with disabilities;
  • Skills and competence in assisting students who may require substantial physical and personal care support (or a willingness to learn);
  • Assist students with school routines and classroom activities; 
  • Assist classroom teachers and the Learning and Enrichment teachers in the delivery of educational interventions to support the access of students to the curriculum. This may be one-on-one with an individual student, or with small groups of students;  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students that focus on understanding their needs and how best to support them in a positive manner to succeed at school;  
  • Implement the health care plans or behaviour plans of students to support their engagement in learning activities;  
  • Participate in student welfare and wellbeing activities as required; 
  • Assist with toileting and personal care needs of students at all ages and dependency levels, including assisting with showering, and changing at school camps; 
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of behavioural and medical plans for students as required;  
  • Well-developed interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills to collaborate and liaise with the Learning and Enrichment team, and class teachers;  
  • An understanding of the of legal requirements with regards to Disability Standards for Education 2005; and an understanding of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) processes, and levels of adjustments; 
  • Other duties as determined by the Principal or K-12 Learning and Enrichment. 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Cert III, IV, or V in Educational Support (or equivalent qualification and/or commensurate experience); 
  • Current First Aid Certificate, as well as current Anaphylaxis and Emergency Asthma Management; 
  • Experience working in an educational environment.
