Our centralised payroll department in Dural processes payroll for the Pacific Group of Christian Schools. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Payroll Officer to support the growing needs of the Payroll team. The successful candidate will report to the Pacific Group Payroll Manager.

This is a permanent full time position with commencement date as soon as possible (A part time option may be negotiable for the right candidate).

Pacific Hills Christian School is a co-educational Prep to Year 12 Christian school with 1500 students, located in Dural, in the Hills District of Sydney.  The School is part of the Pacific Group of ten Christian schools, with six of these schools located in regional NSW.  The School emphasises excellence and growth in Christian character with its vision being 'to provide a Christian educational community as a centre of teaching, learning, and serving excellence founded on Biblically based beliefs, values, and behaviour'.  A distinctive of Pacific Hills is our commitment to Christian service.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be effective in this position the successful applicant should have:

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll and/or accounting
  • An accounting mindset and the natural ability to work with numbers
  • Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks within a heavy workload.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and a deadline driven environment
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Core responsibilities include:

  • Processing of fortnightly end to end payroll for the regional schools
  • Payroll reporting
  • Processing payroll journals
  • Reconciliation of staff leave accruals
  • Calculation of termination entitlements, step level anniversaries, annual leave loading
  • Monthly superannuation remittances
  • Maintaining an up-to-date staff filing system
  • Managing child protection compliance
  • Responding to staff enquiries
  • Keeping abreast with tax and employment legislation
