Pacific Hills Early Learning Centre (PHELC) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our passionate team. This is a unique opportunity to support the health and wellbeing of children in a Christ-centred environment, where care, faith, and learning are nurtured daily.
As the Cook, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals that support the health and development of the children. You will ensure compliance with all relevant dietary, hygiene, and safety guidelines, while managing inventory and kitchen operations.
Commencing at earliest availability, the role involves working in a dynamic environment, and requires physical stamina, multitasking ability, and a passion for serving others.
The role is permanent full time, with working hours from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Job share arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.

Desired Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
Previous experience in hospitality/food service
Ability to manage allergies, dietary restrictions and anaphylaxis
Required to work closely with the Director to maintain food budgets, manage inventory and compliance standards
Ability to model a Christian worldview and integrate Christian values into early childhood education and leadership
Certificate CHCPRT025 – Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
Certificate of Safe Food Handling (mandatory)
Demonstrated knowledge of health, hygiene, and food safety practices
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proactive, solution-oriented approach to challenges
Commitment to promoting healthy eating and positive mealtime experiences
Willingness to work collaboratively in a team
Sensitivity to cultural and developmental diversity
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to a child safe environment through implementing the Child Safe Standards and completing National Child Safety Training
Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals in accordance with Munch and Move guidelines and dietary requirements
Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety, complying with NSW health regulations and Food Standards Australia
Develop and rotate seasonal menus that promote healthy eating habits
Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and budgets effectively
Collaborate with educators to meet the nutritional and developmental needs of children
Maintain accurate records for compliance and reporting purposes
Support educators as needed in child engagement and daily Centre operations
Contribute to a Christ-centred culture that respects all backgrounds and beliefs
